#47 The Lost Weekend (1945)

Billy Wilder's first film to win Best Picture, The Lost Weekend, stars Ray Milland as writer Don Birnam, a self-destructive alcoholic, who spends a weekend on a drunken misadventure where he sinks lower and lower into his depression... yeah not the witty comedy we've grown to expect from the dynamic duo of Wilder and Charles Brackett, but no less compelling.
